It should come as no surprise to eagle eyed readers who caught the hidden announcement of Logan’s return in Marvel’s August Solicits, well now the publisher has officially announced the return of everyone’s favorite clawed Canadian.
Writer Charles Soule and artist Steve McNiven are set to kick off the final chapter of their trilogy that began with 2014’s The Death of Wolverine and continued with the recent The Hunt for Wolverine event. The original Wolverine will return in september’s The Return of Wolverine #1
According to Soule, Wolverine’s return will bring some new changes to the fan-favorite mutant’s abilities, presumably as a result of the still unknown cause of his resurrection.
“Wolverine’s body has been missing. The entire Marvel Universe has been looking for him, because he’s a very important part of the Super Hero puzzle. And at long last, he will be found,” Soule said in an interview with Marvel.com. “I thought this was a real opportunity to do things that would make him feel new and fresh in a way; if you come back from the dead it should mean something. One of the outwardly physical manifestation of that is that now, from time to time, his claws – once they’re popped – they can heat up. They can get really hot.”
The Return of Wolverine #1 releases in September from Marvel Comics.
